Developer Engineering & Cable Selection Guidelines
- High Temperature & Avionics: Select PTFE/FEP dielectric cables (M17/60, M17/93, M17/111, M17/176) rated for -55°C to +200°C.
- Shipboard & Enclosed Spaces: Mandatory use of Low-Smoke, Low-Toxicity Crosslinked Polyolefin jackets (M17/134, M17/192, M17/211, M17/221-229). PVC jackets (M17/28, M17/74) are strictly prohibited in enclosed shipboard systems.
- MIL-STD-1553 Data Bus Integration: Use 77 Ω Twinaxial cables (M17/176, M17/201, M17/203) with controlled capacitance (24 pF/ft max) and balanced twin conductors.
- Low Noise Applications: Where vibration or flexure creates microphonic noise, specify M17/211 low-noise coax (max 320 µV peak-to-peak noise).
